Alpine High is ten days of exhilarating riding and great hotels based in the Alps. It is an easier paced tour than Mountains: Alps with lower daily mileages in the Alps themselves and a free day in Europe's highest city - Davos. Ideal for couples, first time Alpine riders or those looking for a more relaxed tour it should still not be underestimated. Alpine riding can be challenging and demanding and 200 miles in the Alps is plenty for the majority of riders.

You will start with a longer day after an early Eurotunnel crossing to get some miles done towards the mountains. You will be staying near Troyes in the Parc Naturel de la Foret d'Orient for your welcome dinner. From Troyes you are heading east across France heading for another Parc Naturel - The Vosges. You will be staying in a pretty small town in the Alsace close to German, Swiss, French border. Your route continues east through the southern reaches of the Black Forest and along the shore of Lake Constance for a night in Germany at a traditional German Hotel.

Now the funs really begins. The daily mileages drop a little as you get to ride some of the best passes in the Alps. Your route to Silandro skirts through Austria as you get to ride the Timmelsjoch and Penserjoch passes on the way to a night in Italy. Although it will feel more like Germany as the town is part of the former Austro Hungarian Empire partitioned for Italy at the end of WW1. The locals still speak German as a first language and they refer to the area as the South Tyrol. The following day is more great Alpine roads including the iconic Stelvio Pass as you head for the highest city in Europe.

Davos is perched at over 1,500 metres between the Plessur and Albula ranges. You will be based in one of our regular and favourite 4-star hotels for two nights so you can relax and ease away the exertions of the trip in their whirlpool or steam bath, enjoy a massage and relax in style after your treatment in the chill-out room with it own fireplace.

From Davos more famous Alpine passes await you. The Oberalp, St Gotthard and Grimsell Passes will prove some of the most challenging riding of the trip. You will be spending the night in Spiez. This prestigious ski resort sits between the Thun and Brienz in the shadow of the infamous Eiger on the other side of the lake .

Leaving the Alps your route takes you through the Vosge Mountains and to Obernai back in the Alsace. Our hotel has a pool and sauna to help you unwind from the days efforts. From here it is through France and into the Ardennes. You are staying in the heart of the small town of Marche En Famenne just a short walk from the main square. Your farewell dinner is in a favourite local restaurant a short walk from the hotel. An easy day to Calais the following day and a mid afternoon crossing means plenty of time to head for home.
