Our famous Mountains:Alps motorcycle tour is heading west this year. We are riding some the great Swiss Alpine passes before heading west for tree nights on the French / Italian border to ride some of the quieter passes.

The tour starts with a day including some motorway miles to move us south. Our overnight stop is in the heart of medieval Troyes. From here we continue south through the Jura Mountains with the second night of our tour already in Switzerland. The town of Biel, the centre of Swiss watchmaking, lies at the eastern end of Lake Biel, at the foot of the Jura Mountains.

After a comfortable night in the centre of Biel you are heading into the Alps proper. Grimsell, Susten, Nufenen, San Gottard and Passes are all en route today as you head for Meringen. famous for its waterfalls it is also the place where Sherlock Holmes met his end.

From Switzerland we are heading west and to Italy where we will spend three nights at the foot of Mont Blanc in Courmayeur. Furka, Susten and Grand St Bernard Passes are en route .

With three days in Courmayeur you can either choose to take a day (or two?) off the bike or come out and enjoy the ride out we have planned. Cols and passes abound and include the highest paved road in the Alps, the Col de l'iseran.

Having spent five nights in the Alps it is time to start heading home. But he fund is not over. Our route cuts through the Doubs mountains heading for the small town of Dole, before heading into the Ardennes for out final night and celebration dinner.

All that is left is a few hundred miles back to the channel tunnel and home.

Please Note: This is a riding focussed tour with long days, demanding roads and lots and lots of hairpins. Nearly every day exceeds 225 miles. If you are looking for an Alpine tour but with a more relaxed pace have a look at Annecy and the Alps, where by contract no day is over 225 miles! Weather in the Alps at altitude can be unpredictable and while it is summer in the valleys it can be winter on the peaks. It is suitable only for experienced and confident riders and pillions. We recommend you carefully check your tyres and replace them if in any doubt prior to departure, especially if riding a BMW S or K series bikes.

  • Breath-taking riding of the Alps, Doubs and Jura
  • Revised routes for 2019 but still retaining some of the unmissable roads
  • 3 and 4 star hotels throughout
  • Some of the best roads and riding in Europe
  • Opportunity to ride the iconic Col de l'iseran ithe highest road in the Alps
  • Three nights in Courmayeur
  • Lots of famous passes mixed with some of the less well known and quieter routes
