Mountains: Alps has been one of our most popular tours for many years. As a result, we’ve applied this successful format to an additional region: the Pyrenees.

This is a rider’s tour, taking in some of the region’s most challenging and rewarding mountain passes and cols. You’ll be treated to some long, twisty and swooping riding days that will be remembered for a very long time. The Pyrenees may be less famous than the Alps but the riding can be just as good; plus that lack of fame means the roads are quieter. You will get to ride some of the best high roads in the region, including the Col du Tourmalet, Col du Pourtalet, Col du Aspin and Col du Peyresourde. Plus we will be taking some lesser known single track routes that wind their way across the mountains.

You'll start with an overnight ferry from Portsmouth to Santander. A late afternoon arrival means a quick 95 miles to move us east towards the mountains. The next day we are heading in to the Pyrenees and across the French border and back for the first of eight times as we enjoy some great roads including the Col De la Pierre de St Martin heading into the Aragon region of Spain. You are heading east for the next two days climbing and descending over cols and passes, criss crossing the border and skirting the Principality of Andorra. These two nights are spent in remote mountain Paradors, originally there to provide refuge to travellers in the winter.

You will get to ride the swooping "Eje Pirenaico" the Axis of the Pyrenees as you start heading west towards St Girons and a night in France. In the morning it is back across the border as we head for Tramacastilla de Tena at 1,200 metres. A small typical mountain town that dominates the bottom of the valley in which is nestles.

After another day of Pyrenean pleasure, including riding the Col Du Somport, you are heading for Pamplona the capital of Navarre in the Spanish Basque region and our final night before the ferry. With so much crammed in to this nine night tour, there is no time for a rest day as we traverse the Pyrenees from the Bay of Biscay to beyond Andorra and back. You’ll be staying in a mix of paradors, remote hillside locations and local hotels.

  • Breath-taking riding in the Pyrenees
  • Riding the Col du Tourmalet, Col du Pourtalet, Col du Aspin and Col du Peyresourde
  • Riding the Coll del Nargo to Berga road, one of our Tour Directors favourite roads
  • Some of the best roads and riding in Europe
  • Quiet roads and grippy tarmac!
  • Ride the N-260 the Axis of the Pyrenees
  • Two nights in Spanish Paradors
  • Great small hotels in remote locations
